Edgard Varese is a composer, who been called Father of Electronic Music, he is basically a musician himself. He is born in December 22, 1883 and died in November 6, 1965.
His being known as the "Father of Electronic Music" while Henry Miller described him as "The stratospheric Colossus of Sound".

What was his most important contribution to music? Explain.
He is the inventor of the term “organized sound”. He is one of the earliest Serialist composers, electronic musician, and noisy type of music.

Why was his approach to music composition so different?
He is french but american, he learn his music with Vincent d'Indy, Charles-Marie Widor and Albert Roussel. He moves alot, it makes him understand a lot of culture from different places.

How influential was he? Who were some of the people he influenced?
He influential a lot of people in his century. For example like Chou Wen-chung who met Edgard Varese at 1949, and he become his student. And he also influenced those following people in classic music Harrison Birtwistle, Pierre Boulez, John Cage, Morton Feldman, Roberto Gerhard, Olivier Messiaen, Luigi Nono, Krzysztof Penderecki, Alfred Schnittke, William Grant Still, Karlheinz Stockhausen, and Iannis Xenakis. He also influenced the popular music in 60 ~ 70 century.

Yes, people in his century like his music, for example for Density 21.5. Density 21.5 is compose on two melody ideas - modal and atonal.

Yes, it is still playing in the perform. The song Density 21.5 is still playing by different people every year.

The music Density 21.5 is universal. Everyone knows about him and about what he did for music history if you study music in really detail way. He is been called the Father of Electronic Music. Everyone knows about him is not because his music, but about what he did to make the music changed.

It is really difficult to find connection from the past, it is his own idea of the song.
